When I was a little younger I was a regular rock climber and I loved nothing more than an afternoon on the bouldering wall near my college. I gave it up when I nearly died on a climb in Wales and never felt confident enough to try again.

However, the GingaNinja informed me that she had located a climbing centre in Kent that had no lower age limit and we could take ASK along and just six months later I finally got round to looking it up and deciding that we’d give it a crack.

The pictures below show just how much fun ASK and the GingaNinja had. The real fun though was had by me, I really had forgotten just how much fun climbing can be.

The problem was though that Evolution Climbing closed down just a week later and there is now nowhere that we can find to allow a 2 and half year old on to their climbing walls.

A disappointing end to an awesome day.

It’s my opinion that climbing and sports in general from an early age are a brilliant thing and should be encouraged and I’d certainly say to any climbing centre that (as you can see) a 2 year old child is a revenue stream you should be exploiting because the younger you get them interested the longer you’ll keep them (and their parents).
